The Ventless Portable Dryer Explained

We all need to dry our clothes after we washed them and often have to do so indoors. Find out about ventless portable dryer appliances that are perfect for that job in this introduction article on this site to kick things off.

Most of us already know what a clothes dryer is, so there's not much point in explaining what it is and what it does. Suffice it to say, what I'm talking about here is an appliance that has the main function of drying your clothes after you washed them but one that can do it anyplace in the home and without needing to be vented to the outside.

Why Do You Need to Vent?

Regular indoor clothes drying appliances by their very nature create a lot of moisture that gets released into the atmosphere. By drying wet clothes, the water gets evaporated and the resulting water vapor is expelled from the appliance.

Regular dryers have a venting port that is connected to an outside wall of your home to allow that exhaust water vapor to vent to the outside. It does that to prevent the humidity inside getting raised and too much moisture getting into the air, which will cause condensation and all the problems associated with it.

Benefits of a Ventless Dryer

Driers that don't need to be vented to the outside, namely the portable units that are highlighted here in these pages, have a slightly different way of dealing with the moisture they create as a result of drying wet clothes. Instead of venting the moist air through an exhaust outlet, these appliances condense the water vapor back into liquid form and collect it in a reservoir that you simply empty when it becomes full.

This makes it possible to site one of these mobile appliances in any room of your home and use it whenever you want without having to be concerned over creating excess moisture in the air and the resulting problem of condensation. It's a relatively simple idea, really but one that makes it possible to start using the appliance right away without the need for the additional expense of installation and fixing to an exterior wall vent.

What More Do You Need to Know?

You might be thinking that's all you need to know. You're sold on the idea and now you want one of these appliances, right?

Well, there is more to know and read about first, but sure, if you aren't really interested to delve really deeply into the mechanics of one of these handy and versatile units, then all you probably need to do now is to choose a suitable model to fit with your needs and your budget.
